There are many factors to consider when looking into what hair and makeup styles you'd like to have on your wedding day. Below are the top things to consider for each when looking at inspiration photos and deciding which looks to choose.

What is your natural hair texture?

Do you have thick or thin hair? Thicker hair can typically hold curl better than thin, giving you a lot more options for styles with your hair down. If your hair is thin, consider clip-in extensions to help add volume and hold your curls in place. Even when doing an updo, clip in extensions are a great option for giving a bigger bun, bigger braids and thicker twists. Make sure you chat with your Hair Stylist on what the best option is for you before your trial appointment or wedding day.

Does having your hair in your face bother you?

Sometimes having strands of hair in your face can drive you crazy, and sometimes it doesn't. If you're wanting to feel beautiful but comfortable on your Wedding day, maybe look at styles with your front pieces pulled behind your ears or straight back. If you want more pieces in your face, talk with whoever cuts your hair AND your Wedding day stylist about what cut would give you the desired amount of pieces for your style.

Find inspiration photos that match your hair color.

When in doubt, try it out!

When you are preparing for your trial appointment with your Hair stylist (or Wedding day if you didn't book a trial), be sure to show your Stylist inspiration photos with a similar hair color to your own. This will make it easier for you to have more realistic idea of what the style will look like on you, and make it easier for the stylist to replicate.

If you're feeling indecisive about what's going to look best or how well it will hold throughout your wedding day, you can always attempt more than one trial appointment with your stylist! And don't be afraid to speak up at your appointment, this is your time to try things and determine exactly what you're looking for! We want to do everything we can to have you leave the appointment feeling beautiful and confident.

What's your every day makeup look like?

Hardly wear makeup? Maybe consider a lighter, more natural look? Do you wear makeup daily? Maybe a soft glam look is for you. Are you pretty much a pro yourself? Full glam girlie!

Even if you don't wear makeup often, don't be afraid to try something new! THIS IS YOUR WEDDING DAY!

What is your photographer's editing style like?

If your photographer edits their work with more dark and moody colors, your makeup is going to look darker in photos than it will in real life. If your photographer edits lighter with brighter colors, your makeup will look brighter and more colorful than in real life. Keep this in mind when choosing the best look for your wedding day.

What is your go to night out makeup look?

Are you used to adding a little va va voom to your makeup look when you go out for date night or girl's night? Maybe try a little smokey eyeshadow look for your wedding day! Or lift your eye shape with a winged eyeliner, or add a pop of color to your lips! Choosing a look is about comfort, but also about having FUN!

What's the texture of your skin like?

If your skin is very dry, you may want to avoid a heavy matted skin look. I recommend seeing an esthetician and working on your skin texture before your wedding day. If you have oily skin, you'll want powder and blotting papers to make sure excess oils don't seep through your makeup on your wedding day. Talk to your makeup artist about skin prep products to make sure your oils are under control, and avoid a glowy dewy skin texture that might accentuate those oily spots.

Do you have a lot of discoloration in your skin?

Do you want to add false lashes?

If you have redness, sunspots or acne, you'll want to make sure those spots are well covered. Talk with your artist about the best way to make sure it's fully covered and controlled. You CAN cover discoloration, acne and sunspots without heavy foundation, but sometimes your skin looks more balanced with fuller coverage. Listen to your artist's advice, they'll guide you in the right direction!

99.9% of the time YES! If you have lash extensions already, great. Otherwise I recommend your artist use false lashes for your wedding day, it looks better in professional photos and makes your eyes look bigger and draws the eye to them. You can still achieve a natural look with false lashes, talk to your artist about using individuals if you want a more natural lash look.
